American Outdoor News - Founder Chris Avena

Published on: 13th June, 2024

I have been an outdoorsman for as long as I can remember going on camping trips with family. My uncle took me on my first hunting trip when I was 16 and the rest is history.

I started a website called SeeMeHunt.com way back in the early 2000's. It was supposed to be a social network for hunters, but it never really caught on like I thought that it would.

But that was my introduction to the Outdoor Industry. I didn’t even know that it was an industry prior to that. SeeMeHunt was more of a hobby than a business though. It did afford me the opportunity to meet all of the right people in the outdoor industry. -I met plenty of outdoor personalities, manufacturers, and the like.

Then in 2018, I started American Outdoor News. Online magazine https://www.americanoutdoornews.com/choose-magazine/

publishing was all new to me. Admittedly, I was completely out of my element, but I worked my way through it and learned as I went along. American Outdoor News has grown substantially since its beginning, and I am very excited for what the future holds for us.

We were recently awarded the Pinnacle Award for Outstanding

Achievement for Digital Magazine by POMA &  was the first runner-up

for Best Hunting Podcast by AGLOW.

We recently presented our first annual Lifetime Achievement award during the Dallas Safari Club Convention to one of the outdoor world's most iconic hunters, Mr. Larry Weishuhn. This has been a look at great things to follow for 2024.
